If you were in town for the rainy season you were probably thinking - What is Going on with the Road? We had so much rain this October and November, which meant we also had a lot more bumps and pot holes to deal with as well! Now that the rains have stopped the Muni has started work on what it has planned for this season.
The muni has already levelled the stretch of road from La Lora to the main strip of Hermosa, much to the relief of the inhabitants of the north of ST and Hermosa!
Works have started for the laying of concrete on the two stretches that have been missing between Cobano and the Cruce of Playa Carmen - (1) from the Cruce de los Mangoes to San Isidro and (2) from the ´S´ to the Cruce of Playa Carmen. This will likely mean that there will be some delays coming in and out of town.
Before Christmas the Muni will be laying asfalt emulsion from the Cruce of Playa Carmen to Katana, in order to aid with the dust. And then after March the Banco Internacional de Desarrollo will be funding the laying of concrete for this strip.
Sidewalks will not be done this season, nor will the concrete for the road from northern Santa Teresa to Hermosa. Sadly, due to budget constraints, the Muni will not be laying asfalt emulsion in the areas of Mal Pais and northern Santa Teresa that do not currently have a concrete road - and hence the neighbors will likely be getting together to lay their own molasses to control the dust during the dry season.
