Santiago is a beautiful and tranquil area, located just a short drive above Playa Hermosa. It has become very popular over the last few years, due to its ease of access down to Hermosa Beach and the stunning views that it offers of the valley. Santiago is mostly rolling hills, which were previously cattle farms. Reforesting has begun in some areas, while other parts remain open fields. You will find some beautiful large houses for sale here, as well as raw land yet to be developed. The municipal water does not currently provide service to this area, and so each property will have its own well – either hand-dug or drilled.

Santiago is popular as a location for long-term residents that want to be a short drive to town, close to the beach and to the Hermosa Valley School. More recently it has started to grow as a location for short-term vacation rental houses.

A short-drive north of Santiago, is a small sleepy pueblo called La Palmita. La Palmita is stunningly beautiful, green farmland. Currently the access road to La Palmita is not all-year round. However, it is believed that the road will eventually be paved, providing easy access during all seasons. Real estate options in La Palmita are currently limited to raw land, as it is undeveloped. Santiago and its surrounding areas are a great location for those looking for peace and tranquility on the outskirts of town, whilst also only being a short drive to the shops, school, beach, yoga, etc. Heading north from Santiago you will quickly arrive at the quiet, and beautiful beach of Manzanillo. Hermosa Beach is just down the hill, and there is a quick back-route to Cobano and the Cobano airport heading east. This makes Santiago a convenient, quiet and beautiful spot to be!
