Sticky Bee Finca Orgánica

There is nothing like lovingly grown organic food.  But there is one thing even better - lovingly grown organic food that is hand delivered to you on the very day it is harvested!

This year, thanks to the Sticky Bee Finca Orgánica I have been receiving at my desk once a week the freshest produce possible.  Crunchy cucumbers, spicy mustard greens, juicy habanero peppers, fresh sweet watermelon.... these are just a few of the delicious fruit and veg that you can expect from the Sticky Bee Finca Orgánica!

The farm, located in Santiago, is a family operation, run by the husband and wife team of Adam (from Oklahoma) and Annette (from Costa Rica)… with a little bit of help from their two-year old son James.  Not only do they produce incredibly tasty food, the farm is gorgeous – with incredible views out over the valley and the mountains of Santiago and Rio Negro.

Adam and Annette started planting and growing for themselves 8 years ago – wanting to provide their family with nutritious, healthy, pesticide-free food.  A few friends and restaurant owners took note of their project and asked to purchase their surplus product.  This turned in to the Sticky Bee Finca Orgánica in June 2018 and the couple have been selling their produce commercially ever since.  Now their aim is to provide the local community with quality, fresh, chemical-free veggies.  And you can taste the love and passion that they put in to their business!

The produce is the freshest – Every morning at 5.30am Adam and Annette cut exclusively to fill the orders for that day.  The produce is weighed, bagged and is out on delivery within a few hours max.  They never store their produce - everything you get has been cut exclusively for you on the day you receive it . The pair make all their own fertilizers in the form of compost teas.  No conventional fertilizers are used.  Everything is homemade.

The produce that you can order depends on the season.  With the first rains they plant several varieties of heirloom peppers, tomatoes, eggplant okra, red long beans, Zinnias for cut flowers, cucumbers.  During the dry season they focus on heirloom melons and watermelons.  But delicious salad greens are available all year round!

If you would like to buy locally produced, organically-grown fruit and veg that really taste incredible - take a look at the Sticky Bee Finca Orgánica facebook page or their Instagram Page and find out what they are harvesting this week!
