This month witnessed the first ever Magic Hat Classic, which took place at Rocamar and raised just under $5,000 for the Santa Teresa Lifeguards. It was an amazing success - a beautiful day, with epic waves and a great turn out from the community. 32 surfers participated in the contest. The rules were simple - each surfer was to surf in a costume and to ride the surf board chosen at random for them.

The judges (Kadri, Dor, Thomas, Fabio and Samy) awarded prizes for the following categories:
- Best Costume - 1st place went to James, who won a two-way flight with Costa Rica Green Airways. 2nd place went to Laurie, who won a training session with DFI Surf Training.
- Wave of the Day - 1st place went to Gaston, who won a gift carf from Good Life Tattoo, 2nd place went to Jeremy, who won a 3-month gym pass at the Santa Teresa Lifeguards Gym.
- Trikkster - 1st place went to Jeremy, who won a Katana gift card, 2nd place went to Esteban who won 2 private breathwork sessions
- Lady´s Luck - the prize went to Laurie, who won a 3-month gym pass at the Santa Teresa Lifeguards Gym.
- Young Buck - the prize went to Orion, who won a leash from Batik and two lifeguard t-shirts from the Santa Teresa Lifeguards.
- The People´s Choice - went to Ryan, who won a Casa Manta gift bag.

There was a fantastic turnout and the waves were perfect all morning! Delicious drinks and food were supplied to the crowds by the Rocamar restaurant and Perra Hermosa Beer. Sebastian was a stellar MC, and there was music all day long thanks to Radio Quebrada and DJ Cortney. In total 387 raffle tickets sold and the 2 winners took home brand new surf boards - one from the House of Somos and one gifted from Batik.

The day was an amazing success thanks to all the community members who came out to participate, support and have a lot of fun. A special thanks goes to all the local businesses who sponsored the event, namely - The House of Somos, Batik, Lineas Maison de Arte, Tipsy, Pura Vida Bodyworks, Pronto, Kooks, El Corazon, A Week Awake, Rocamar, Ario Tours, Yogi Flow Me, Katana, Drfit Bar, Chicken Joes, Ranchos Itauna, Good Life Tattoo, Tropical Fitness Trainer, Kojis, Costa Rica Green Airways, Hotel Flor Blanca, Phatzach Photo and Breathe with Martin.
