We have a fantastic new neighbor here at the Plaza Kahuna – Costa Rica Green Airways!
We love passionate people, who follow their dreams and provide a wonderful, thoughtful service at the very same time. This is the essence of the new domestic airline, Costa Rica Green Airways, who are opening up an office here in Santa Teresa.
The new domestic carrier started its operations in November 2018, filling the gap left by the closure of Nature Air in 2018. It was founded by Everardo Carmona, the co-owner of Carmon Air Charter – a successful private charter airline that has been flying clients around the country since 2009. Everardo’s dream was to provide a domestic service that combined exceptional customer service, safety and a commitment to environmentally sustainable practices. And this is what he has created!
Costa Rica Green Airways operates out of the Juan Santa Maria International Airport and currently provides daily services to Quepos and Tambor.
New Domestic Airport to Service the Santa Teresa Area:
The company has exciting plans for a new domestic airport in Manzanillo/Betel, only a 20-minute drive from the center of Santa Teresa. As well as reducing total transit time from San Jose to Santa Teresa, the goal is to also open up a route along the northern Pacific Coast – from Santa Teresa to Coyote to Nosara to Tamarindo and Liberia.
Work on the airport will start in February of 2020, with flights forecast to begin by the end of 2020.
Commitment to Sustainable Practices:
Commitment to the environment and sustainable business practices are one of the core values of Costa Rica Green Airways. Amongst other environmental initiatives, the airline is involved in local reforestation projects. For every passenger that flies with the airline they plant a seed of endemic tree species around the Bongo and Ario – two important rivers to the north of Santa Teresa.
Another plus point for travelers with non-human friends - Costa Rica Green Airways is pet friendly and you can fly with up to two dogs (depending on weight).
All Costa Rica Green Airways flights are operated with twin-engine crafts, and for the airplane buffs out there, from November 2019 the Tambor route will be operated with the brand new Quest Kodiak.
